Bathroom organization can be overwhelming no matter what size your bathroom is. Bathrooms come in all shapes and sizes; some have drawers, or cabinets, and some have both while others have no built in storage space at all. Whether your bathroom has more space than you can handle or very minimal space, these simple organizational tips can help you keep your bathroom looking tidy.
Keep Counters Cleared
Cluttered counters give the illusion of an unorganized space. By keeping items off the counter it creates a more organized and clean appearance. If you have items that need to be stored on the counter, such as toothbrushes, consider using recycled jars. Many bathroom items can be organized in glass jars, such as q-tips, cotton balls, toothbrushes, makeup brushes, and yes, even soap! These jars can be placed in drawers, under your sinks or on a shelf next to the mirror. You can use a candle jar, mason jar, or even an old cleaned up spaghetti sauce jar. Local thrift stores often carry various jars that can spruce up your space without having to break the bank.
Use Bins under the Sink
Finally, if the only storage space you have is under the sink, consider using a type of bin or upcycled box to separate and store your items. Be sure to place your commonly used items in the front and label each box or bin for easy and convenient access. Unique fabric bins, plastic bins or stackable bins can be found at any general merchandise store. Upcycling a cardboard box can be just as useful, try covering the box in fabric for a more tailored look, you can get creative with patterns and colors but don’t forget to add your labels!
Get Your Drawers Under Control
Every bathroom has that top drawer filled with a clutter of toothpaste, dental floss, clippers and every beauty sample you’ve acquired in the last ten years or so it seems! Start by cleaning out each drawer and throwing away items you know you’re never going to use. Once that is out of the way, you can organize your drawers using dividers or containers to separate items. To eliminate untidiness, you can purchase drawer dividers or little bins from a discount store or you make your own! Recycling household materials is a great way to make your own drawer organizers. Using bottom portions of cereal boxes by cutting them to fit your drawer and covering it with a fun designed craft paper, will give your drawers a fresh custom look.
